Yes! There is a difference between ramen and ramyun (or sometimes spelled ramyeon). Ramen is a traditional Japanese noodle dish. It is usually served as a sit-down experience, and consists of wheat noodles served inside a hot bowl of long cooked broth and then commonly topped with such ingredients as chasu pork, scallions and boiled egg.
While ramyun is a Korean adaptation of ramen, ramyun specifically refers to instant noodles that cooks in minutes, rather that hours like traditional ramen. Even though Korea didn’t invent the instant ramen, they popularized it by creating their own spicy versions, and this instant noodle has become a beloved food favorite of South Koreans. Now it is known by the world as ramyun and loved worldwide.
